Air Fryer FrozenCrinkle Cut Fries

A quick and easy crinkle cut friesrecipe that is perfect for if you want fries but don’t want the caloriesthat would normally come with deep frying them.

The inspiration for our air fryer frozen crinkle cut fries came about after a bad restaurant experience back in 2017. In a nutshell not only was the service and food awful but it reminded me of how disgusting deep fried food can be compared to air fryer frozen French fries.

It made me realise that rather than eating out,I would rather save my calories and money by doing air fryer frozen crinkle cutfries instead.

In case you wanted the full back story here iswhat happened when we ate out on a hot evening in the summer of 2017:

I am a huge fan of eating out inthe Algarve in southern Portugal. There are some amazing places to eat out andwe have lots of favourites. We love places that are great for families and loveto go out in a gang together.

Well on the evening in question:

  • Our reserved table was in the middle of about 10 tables of heavysmokers
  • Out of 3 of us eating they only provided cutlery for 2
  • No proper menus
  • Overpriced meal
  • Unfriendly staff
  • Most greasy fish and chips I have ever tried

It was an English place and wealways find that whenever we eat out at English places In Portugal that theexperience is always awful. It is like they just wake up one day and think“lets open a restaurant abroad” and don’t have the natural ability.

This place in the Algarve has alot of hype for its Fish & Chips and is less than 10 minutes from our frontdoor. We were sceptical to try it from the outset, but because of all thepositive reviews we thought we would give it a go.

But what we remember the most, even 2 years on, is how awfully greasy the chips were. We assumed it wasbecause we are used to air fryer chips. But when we went to England last yearfor fish and chips, they were not this bad.

The takeaway from this is that fries, even when cooked from frozen can be amazing in the air fryer and are a great plan B for lazy days when you would normally head to a restaurant. So, bring on air fryer frozen crinkle cut chips!

Crinkle Cut FriesVs Regular Fries

If youwere to compare crinkle cut fries just taste better and are more fun. If I hadthe choice even as an adult, I would choose crinkle cut fries.

In the 90speople had crinkle cut fries because they tasted better when they were oven bakedand you didn’t need to deep fry them. However, both crinkle cut fries and regularfries cook well in the air fryer, so it is literally down to personal choice.
