Wild Freedom is a wet cat food that I have known for quite a long time, but I have not yet tempted to write a full review of it. I decided to change it, so I bought all the available flavor variants of Wild Freedom and sat down to fully analyze each of them. Is Wild Freedom a good wet cat food? Let’s find it out!
Few words about Wild Freedom brand
Wild Freedom is Zooplus’s private label, which is produced in Bavaria, Germany. Products from this brand are inspired by cat’s instincts, are opulent in meat, and don’t contain grains
In addition to cat food, Wild Freedom also offers soft fillets for cats that I tried a while ago – you can find their review here: Review of Wild Freedom Filet Snacks treats for cats

Comprehensive composition analysis
Content of meat and offal
The first thing he always analyzes in food is the content of meat and offal in the composition. In the case of Wild Freedom wet cat food, the labels do not indicate how much muscle meat or offal is present. Why is it so important? Offal is an important part of a cat’s diet, but complete feeds should not contain more than 20% of offal in the composition. Too much offal can cause diarrhea in some cats.
When there are ambiguities in the composition of the feed analyzed by me, I always send an e-mail to the producer asking for the missing data and clarification of the inaccuracies. This was also the case with Wild Freedom. To my questions about the individual content of meat and offal, I received the answer that they cannot give me exact numbers as they vary from batch to batch. So it looks like the producer does not control the amount of meat and offal in the pet food more closely and therefore is not able to include this information on the labels of Wild Freedom pet foods.
Urinary system support
The ratio of calcium to phosphorus in each flavor of Wild Freedom varies from 1.14: 1 to 2: 1, which is not ideal. I would like to invite cat owners with urinary tract problems to take a look at the individual composition analyzes presented above in this review. Additionally, Wild Freedom Wild Hills (Duck and Chicken) did not have the calcium and phosphorus content on the label, so I had to ask the manufacturer about them.
Macronutrients
The analytical composition of Wild Freedom pet foods is balanced, i.e. it contains the optimal level of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. The caloric content of the feeds is kept at 90-105 kcal per 100 grams of feed, and the energy distribution is as follows: fat accounts for about 60% of the caloric value, proteins for about 40%, and carbohydrates for about 4% of the total caloric value.
Plant ingredients and other fillers
Wild Freedom wet cat food does not contain any clogs (grain, rice, vegetables) or chemical additives in the form of flavor enhancers, preservatives and dyes.
Omega fatty acids
Unfortunately, they do not contain an important component of the cat’s diet, which is salmon oil. They also do not contain any other animal ingredient that provides the cat with Omega polyunsaturated fatty acids – that is, their additional supplementation is necessary.
Taurine level
There is also a problem with taurine. All flavors of Wild Freedom foods contain only 1000 mg / kg of taurine. This is not an optimal amount, as complete cat foods should contain about 1500 mg / kg of taurine (and in many cases they have even more).
Other information
Despite the variety of flavors, all Wild Freedom foods contain chicken, which disqualifies them in case of poultry allergy. Additionally, only one food variant is mono-protein – Wide Country.
Advantages
- optimal level of carbohydrates, proteins and fats,
- no dyes and preservatives,
- without grains, rice, vegetables and dairy products.
Wady
- no specified proportion of meat and offal in the feed,
- low taurine level,
- only one mono-protein option,
- only available in two online stores,
- does not contain salmon oil.
My opinion about Wild Freedom wet cat food
Wild Freedom foods have a natural composition, but unfortunately also have a lot of shortcomings and shortcomings. I am particularly offended by the lack of specification of the content of meat and offal, because I am not sure how much meat it really has and I cannot classify this food as high-meat. In addition, I am shocked by the lack of Omega polyunsaturated fatty acids in the composition and the relatively low level of taurine.
I am aware that many people consider Wild Freedom to be a good wet cat food and recommend it in various forums and social groups, but in my opinion this food is just average compared to other foods in the same price range. Food advertised as a complete food for cats should contain the optimal amounts of ingredients necessary in a cat’s diet, and Wild Freedom, unfortunately, wet cat food did not live up to this task. Due to the shortcomings and ambiguities in the composition, which I wrote about in detail above in my composition analysis, Wild Freedom did not meet my expectations and I do not think it is suitable for regular feeding to a cat.
My cat’s opinion
Despite the fact that Wild Freedom cat wet food did not meet my expectations, my fluffy kitten liked most of the food’s flavors – in addition to the Cold River fish flavor. But that was to be expected. When it comes to fishy flavors, Apollo is really picky and hardly any fish food can really please him.
