William H. Barbour Jr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - William H. "Bill" Barbour Jr., 34, of 1050 Edgar Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at 1628 Magnolia Court, Guilford Township, Pa.

Born Aug. 23, 1962, in Chambersburg, he was the son of William H. and Delores E. "Fizz" Morrison Barbour Sr. of Chambersburg.

He was a 1980 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

He was employed as a machine operator by Hennessy Products Inc., Chambersburg. He had been employed by Lucent Technology; was a subcontractor at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and worked at Food Lion, Chambersburg.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church, Chambersburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Nacosha D. Pittman of Chambersburg; two sons, Marcus A. Pittman and Colby W. Pittman, both of Chambersburg; four sisters, Traline E. Bacon of Maple Shade, N.J., Veldine R. Barbour, Darlene L. Barbour and Kareen M. Barbour, all of Chambersburg; one brother, Ralph R. Barbour of Chambersburg; maternal grandfather, Ralph W. Morrison of Westminster, Md.; three nephews; and four nieces.

Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. W. Larry Johnson and the Rev. James A. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patricia A. Watson

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Patricia Ann Watson, 52, of Evergreen Circle, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 10, 1944, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Paul E. and Frances L. LaPole Palladino Sr. of Hagerstown.

She was a 1962 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. She was employed by First Data Corp.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband, Michael R. Watson; two sons, Michael Palladino and Anthony DePalo, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Suzanne Rickard of Hagerstown and Rose Marie Wingert of Williamsport; two brothers, Terry Palladino of Marlowe, W.Va. and Paul "Butch" Palladino Jr. of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 226 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Thomas Gill will be Celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A., 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Howard T. Stolipher

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Howard T. Stolipher, 79, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Theodore D. Higby and the Rev. J. Robert Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Erma M. Cooper

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Erma M. Cooper, 89, of 2410 Loop Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

Born Dec. 25, 1907, in Ayr Township, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Lillian M. Bishop Cooper.

She attended Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, Chambersburg.

She enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Bertha Jane Peiffer of Sebring, Fla.; one son, Rudolph R. Cooper of Chambersburg; three sisters, Alberta Paxton of Arizona, Reba Piper and Marcella Gipe, both of Chambersburg; one brother, Vernon Cooper of Chambersburg; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, seven brothers and a grandson, Russell Cooper.

Services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Burial will be in Noland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Winton G. Stotler, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at his home.

Born July 12, 1916, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Sina L. and Etta G. Widmyer Stotler.

He retired in 1975 from Pennsylvania Glass and Sand Corp., Berkeley Springs, after 36 years.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Kelley Stotler; two daughters, Carol Anne Crohs of Midland, Va., and Brenda J. Wood of Las Vegas; one son, Robert W. Stotler of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Elizabeth Lopp of Berkeley Springs; one brother, John W. Stotler of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helena Unger and Edna VanGosen; and four brothers, Harry Stotler, Philip Stotler, James Stotler and Paul Stotler.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Wayne Frum will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anna C. Startari

Anna Carmela Startari, 95, of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at the Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.

Born Nov. 6, 1901, in Lecce, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Michaele and Fortunata Pregiosi Minichella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Startari, on Dec. 24, 1961.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, V. Joseph Startari of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Laura Startari of Hagerstown and Maria Startari of Boone, N.C.; and two grandsons, Paul David Startari of Smithsburg and Stephen J. Startari of Bethesda, Md.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. George A. Limmer will be celebrant.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to the Washington County Association for Retarded Citizens, 820 Florida Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Hilda L. Grim

DARGAN, Md. - Hilda Lucille "Polly" Grim, 67, of Dargan, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at her home.

Born May 23, 1929, in Antietam Furnace, she was the daughter of the late Chester Myers and Nellie Mae Gray Myers Gray. She was the stepdaughter of the late John D. Gray.

She was a member of Antietam Church of God.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lloyd D. Grim; two sisters, Connie Williams of Smithsburg and JoAnn Wade of Hagerstown; a special nephew, Michael Williams of Woodbridge; and other nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Chester E. Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery, Samples Manor, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Arthur P. Frey Jr.

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Arthur P. Frey Jr., 70, of 4918 Wright Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born June 27, 1926, in Scotland, Pa., he was the son of Janet Mitchell Mitchell of Chambersburg, and the late Arthur P. Frey Sr.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Hunsecker Frey, in 1975.

He was employed as a laborer by Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, retiring in 1990 after 20 years. He had formerly worked for Pennsylvania Railroad at the roundhouse in Harrisburg, Pa., and in Chambersburg. He was employed by ADECCO Temporary Services at Ingersoil-Rand Co., Shippensburg, Pa., as a chipper-grinder.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II. He also was a veteran of the Marine Corps Reserves.

He hunted and fished.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. Neil Frey, whom he married Nov. 10, 1977; three stepdaughters, Dorothy L. Shields and Mary Ann Shields, both of Chambersburg, and Patsy J. Smarsh of Huntingdon, Tenn.; one stepson, Donald L. Swackhammer of Chambersburg; four sisters, Nellie Corwell and Mary NcNew, both of Fayetteville, Janet Ritter of Hagerstown and Ruth Comer of Florida; 16 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be private.

There will be no viewing.

David L. Winter

BALTIMORE - David Lance Winter, 31, of 1210 Westerlee Place, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at D.C. General Hospital, Washington, D.C.

Born Oct. 28, 1965, in Shreveport, La., he was the son of James and Barbara Gurney Winter of Falling Waters, W.Va.

He was a 1983 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

He was employed as a ticket agent and then as a reservation specialist by USAir.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by four aunts; five uncles; cousins; and a maternal grandmother, Ethel Gurney of England.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Arvel J. Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
