Introduction
This guide will teach you how to craft Searing Exarch Minion Damage gloves.
Crafting in Path of Exile can be extremely complex and rather daunting for new players, the video below will outline the most basic information you’ll need before diving in to the midst of crafting specific items.
The Finished Item
The finished item that you should have after following this guide heavily depends on which base you decide to craft on, it can be an armour base for the life version of the Skeleton Mages or a pair of Sorcerer Gloves for the mirror budget ES variant., this guide will go through the most generic baseline approach to crafting such items. The Base
In the best case scenario, we will be looking for an Item Level 84 (for highest tier resistances) or Item Level 85 (for Highest tier dexterity) pair of gloves, this being the Titan Gauntlets for the armour version or the Sorcerer Gloves for an ES base.
You can look for a pre influenced base with the Searing Exarch’s “minions deal #% increased damage” implicit, for the armour version getting the highest armour base isn’t extremely important, though it is going to be better at the end of the day for the purposes of min-maxing.
The highest tier Searing Exarch implicit attainable through drops or using Exceptional Eldritch Ember, getting the highest tier is a 4% difference in increased minion damage and is less than one passive skill point’s worth of damage, if you want to shoot for it this is the process:
*1) Find your desired base with 20-22% increased minion damage implicit.
*2) Use an Orb of Transmutation to make the item Magic rarity
*3) Use a Lesser Eldritch Ichor on the item for any random implicit modifier.
*4) Beast craft the magic item in your Menagerie with Craicic Chimeral, you will be given an Imprint upon completion, saving the current state of your item.
*5) Use an Orb of Conflict on your item, hoping for the tier of your minion damage implicit to increase. If it decreases you can gamble another of conflict for it to come back to its original tier after using another Lesser Eldritch Ichor as Orbs of Conflict are less expensive than the beast. If this fails we will use the imprint on the item to return it to the state in step 5.
*6) If the tier successfully increased, we can re-imprint the item and repeat the process in step 5 until we have the 28-29% increased minion damage implicit.
*7) After this, you can roll for increased effect of marks using Lesser/Greater/Exceptional Eldritch Ichor, depending on how much currency you are willing to spend for a bit of Mark effect. If you aren’t looking for that implicit, there isn’t really much you’ll be benefitting from, unless you can use unnerve or exposure, though that would require you to use skills yourself and will only help builds that do elemental damage.
Crafting Process
The process is extremely generic and straight forward.
Orb of Annulment and Eldritch Orb of Annulment (for removal of prefixes) are rather cheap this league, and so are the essences so if we ever come across an item that is “so close to being good, if only it didn’t have X mod so I could bench craft something else onto it” we can always take the yolo gamble in hopes of hitting the desired outcome.
Once we have the base we can use Deafening Essence of Fear which are extremely accessible this league, as a result of the Atlas Essence nodes, to spam the item until we reach the desired outcome.
The outcomes we’re looking for on an armour base include: High life, 40+ Dexterity, and resistances.
There are many different outcomes here but if we are missing 1 of our target modifiers we can often gamble with Eldritch Exalted Orb, Eldritch Orb of Annulment (Which with our base would add or remove prefixes respectively) or simply use the bench if you have the open affix slots. Since dexterity is often a struggle for Minion builds, it is the only real modifier that we don’t want to compromise on with bench crafting. The other modifiers can be filled out with the bench.
For the Energy Shield base, the Essence spamming process is essentially the same, but we are instead looking for Energy shield modifiers as opposed to life.
We can later use harvest divines to min max the prefixes and suffixes respectively.
TL;DR
- Decide which base item to work with, buy it on the Trade website or use Exceptional/Greater Eldritch Ember to hit it yourself (the former will be cheaper in 90% of cases)
- For the higher tier modifiers use beast crafting to hit the max roll minion damage implicit
- Essence spam that bad boy until we get a decent outcome
- Use Eldritch Annulment/Exalted Orbs or normal Annulment orbs if you want to gamble for an open modifier/ to fill out the prefixes
- Bench craft a modifier that you could take advantage of.
- Fine-tune with Harvest and/or bench-craft
